Four boyhood pals perform a heroic act and are changed by the powers they gain in return. Years later, on a hunting trip in the Maine woods, they're overtaken by a vicious blizzard that harbors an ominous presence. Challenged to stop an alien force, the friends must first prevent the slaughter of innocent civilians by a military vigilante ... and then overcome a threat to the bond that unites the four of them.
This movie contains 20 potentially triggering events.
When the hitchhiker stops a man in a big rig, the driver has a dog. The hitchhiker brings the dog to eat a dead alien and soon the worm is in the dog. The dog lays next to the hitchhiker in the big rig (after the diver is killed) and the dog is wimpering as its stomach moves strangely. When they get to the Boston aqueduct, the hitchhiker brings the dog inside. The dog does die, but you don't SEE it die, you just see the body. The wimpering is yucky though. It starts maybe the last 30/45 minutes of the movie.
Maybe not trypophobic in the general sense, but there's a scene where a massive UFO is shown, and it has a strange, spotty texture that might be gross to some.
When the man first comes to the cabin he has severe gas burping and farting. He apologizes for it profusely and says it’s probably because of some berries he tried to eat while trying to survive in the wilderness.
An alien grabs a male character between the legs and squeezes. It is a close up graphic shot of testicular pain. Hard to watch and definitely a trigger.
There is a scene where a character has a substantial injury to the fingers of one hand. This has a minimal impact on the scene and is not highlighted. If you’re not paying attention, you could miss it entirely.
Shower no, but bathroom yes. It has a lot of the same suspense as a typical shower scene. Instead is the suspense being about the shower curtain being pulled back, it’s the bathroom door being opened.
The first childhood flashback involves teens bullying a boy with Down syndrome by stripping him down and trying to force him to eat feces. The main characters fend off the teens and prevent anything from happening to the boy, but it still may be distressing to watch.
One character has a nervous habit and it leads to an unfortunate situation. There is a several minute situation where he is trying to calm is nerves and it is anxiety inducing for the audience.
There are a couple of close call almost suicide scenes. One is fairly brutal regarding vehicles. If this is a sensitive subject, I would advise caution.
