Taking place three years after the previous game, Kratos and Atreus have been in hiding at their home in Midgard and training for the inevitable battle ahead of them. Returning home from a hunting trip—following a brief ambush by Freya—Atreus and Kratos find their wolf Fenrir in his final moments.
