Nemo, an adventurous young clownfish, is unexpectedly taken from his Great Barrier Reef home to a dentist's office aquarium. It's up to his worrisome father Marlin and a friendly but forgetful fish Dory to bring Nemo home -- meeting vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish, hungry seagulls, and more along the way.
This movie contains 46 potentially triggering events.
Nemo’s father and Dory travel all across the ocean to find Nemo (hence the name of the film), but it’s not really stalking, they’re just trying to find someone who is lost.
A little girl had killed her previous fish, shown with her holding a bag with an upside down fish in it. (Why does he keep giving her fish if he knows she’s gonna keep killing them?? That seems very irresponsible)
There is a group of sharks that are trying to stop eating fish. Their motto is "fish are friends, not food." However, one of the sharks smells blood and goes on a rampage.
Some characters are out of water for a few seconds, and during those time they appear to be breathing heavier, but their inability to breath is not focused on and they are put back into water quickly.
Fish eat other fish, just like in real life, however in this movie it’s just sharks eating smaller fish that aren’t sharks, so it’s not necessarily cannibalism.
All of Nemo’s brothers and sisters (as eggs) are eaten, and Nemo - a young fish - is “kidnapped” by a fisherman, who then gives him to a dentist as a pet. He is returned home safely in the end.
Nemo's voice actor is not disabled, however Nemo's disability is nowhere near the main focus of the movie and is only mentioned a couple times at the beginning. Also he's an animated fish.
Yes, along with the hundreds of eggs, their mother, coral, dies too. It is not shown on-screen, but it is assumed they were killed (and possibly eaten) by a barracuda.
While not a toy, a fish that was given as a present to a character gets away from her and she cries (it’s presumed she sees the fish as a toy and not a living creature, due to the accidental death of her last fish).
The movie is based around Nemo being kid-napped. Including once part where he screams for help from his dad. While Nemo is a fish, and his abductor is a human, this can trigger people who have be forcefully taken against their will.
I mean… most of the movie takes place in the ocean or in a fish tank which is basically a shower going on forever. There’s also a scene where another fish cleans Nemo, similar to a shower.
Yeah there is… its when marvin is on the turtles back and says hes sea sick, the turtle says “if ur gonna thr*w up dont do it on me” something like that, the little turtle says “we call that feeding the fishes” when marvin and dory are then chucked of the turtles back he says “good luck feeding the fishes” and Marvin comes into the shoot with his face green and says “I already did” indicating that he had just thr*w up, it bothered me as a severe emetaphobe, so take this how you will.
One could say the sharks could apply to this, but they’re just doing natural shark instinct things, they didn’t want to attack Marlon and Dory, but their predatory instincts kicked in making them attack. Nobody is hurt in the end.
Some fish in the fish tank have mental health challenges, such as an obsession with bubbles escaping from a chest, and a "sister" with a name that's just their own reflection.
There is a scene where everyone in the tank is dressed up and grunting out "ha ha hoo hoo" repeatedly upon Nemo awaking, as though for a tropical tribe style ceremony. He is bewildered as you are until he slowly swims up to a place and they stop and finally explain what it's all for.
Some sharks think they could be vegetarians.
The son gets kidnapped and is terrified, get stuck in a filter and almost dies, and is scared of a volcano. The dads son was literally stolen and he is in a state of panic for the whole movie. Eaten by a whale, chased by sharks, bombs going off, giant fish chasing him in the dark.
The movie has a lot of disabled fish, and in the beginning they are treated as lesser then fully able fish. Nemo's dad worries about him because of his malformed fin, and Dory has short term memory loss and is dismissed as worthless.
Later into the movie a lot of mentally disabled fish are plaied for laughs. A female fish talks to her reflection as if she was a real person (and casually sneaks in an "aunt flow" joke), one fish has an obsession with the bubbles produced by toy in the tank.
I’m not sure if this is considered a chronic illness or not, I’m no expert on these things, but Nemo was born with a deformed fin due to an injury from when he was an egg, and he is disabled as a result. However he lives just fine.
