Two teenage couples traveling across the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends of serial killers end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic backwater family of serial killers.
This movie contains 70 potentially triggering events.
A minor character's back story is being lit on fire by his father that left them with permanent damage.
There's a dead fetus in a display jar that is heavily implied to be one of the character's dead child.
not directly, but i would argue yes. as the ‘final girl’ escapes the underground house of horrors, a main antagonist pops up in the back of the car, having presumably been stalking her to there.
While both men and women are tortured and killed, women are particularly sexualized in their torture (i.e. most of it is done while they're nude, women are raped during and after death by Otis, etc.)
A minor character's back story is being lit on fire by his father that left them with permanent damage. The person was at least a teenager in the scene, but the age in unclear.
There's the corpse of a fetus in a display jar that is implied to be the dead child of one of the characters.
There is a brief shot of a teenager victim getting their head pushed into a bucket of liquid.
In the official soundtrack (lyrics not in the movie itself, but it tells some of the back stories of the characters) there's a song with the line,
"(character name) likes the girls young and clean, drowning in a bucket of gasoline"
Otis Driftwood does forcibly kiss one of the main girls.
Mama Firefly kisses one of the main boys towards the end.
There is also a scene when a cheerleader from a high school is tied to a bed, and Otis is behind her laughing as she screams. I myself am unsure if he is assaulting her sexually, but it still could be triggering to some. It is however very quick and brief, and it happens when they arrive at the house and Baby says “No there’s a bunch of us around here.” Just so you can skip it really quick if you would like to.
Also, it is canon that Otis does SA the victims and their bodies, in case people want to know before watching this or the other two movies.
Falls on the typical horror movie trope of calling the characters teenagers without ever saying how old they actually are. None of the characters are ever stated to be minors but it's worth keeping in mind.
The original concept and design for Otis was that he was albino. You can see this by his hair and eye color. Bill Moseley is not albino. However, his albinism is retconned in the rest of the series, so you may be able to just pretend he looks like that for unrelated reasons.
Captain Spaulding and another character do in fact say the word, specifically these sentences.
“That (blank) that hangs out at Molly’s food stamps?”
“He’s one horny (blank).”
It is within the first few minutes after the intro of Captain Spaulding’s gas station and murder ride. Other than those 2 times, it is not said again.
There is no v* in this movie, I just watched it. However, at 1:20:05 in, (According to Tubi) there is a scene with a red guy wearing goggles who takes off this gas mask thing off his mouth - then proceeds to spit mucus out of his mouth. Lasts until 1:20:10. It looks kinda like he spat up a raw egg in a way. Diddn't effect me but probably could to others.
There are cutaway scenes of (not real!) home videos recorded by serial killers randomly inserted into the movie, somewhat similar to flashbacks or intrusive thoughts.
A major theme in the movie is an urban legend of a serial killer being at least partially real.
No, but there is a scene of an abductor attempting to force feed a captive with cereals from an animal food bowl.
One scene right after, of a disabled person eating the cereal messy and with really loud slurping noises.
An intro montage of footage has some images that flash by in photo negative, creating a strobe-like effect. There are frequent lightning flashes in later scenes, though these are very brief strobes.
No, but there is a ritual performed that can be interpreted as a religious act, along with religious symbols and a distorted sound recording being played in reverse that sounds quite demonic.
